P90X3 How to do Pull-ups for Women

Well I did it!! And so can you! I’ve never been able to do a pull up. I was one of those kids in gym class who just hung there because I couldn’t pull my body up. So for me this was awesome, and I’m so excited that I was able to do it! Now I’m going to share with you how I was able to do it!

Pull-ups can be extremely challenging for women, regardless of their fitness level. Until recently even I still struggled with them. But now the days of dreading the pull-up bar are long behind me. But I didn’t beat this alone I had a secret little helper, the Pull-Up Assist, and this was pivotal in allowing me to do a pull up. The bands are great, however your positioning in relation to the bar is slightly different than doing a traditional pull up. What the pull up assist allows you to do is utilize the pull up bar the way you normally would, with your leg placed in the bottom of the band. This lessens the amount of resistance and allows you to pull your body up! So you are still in the correct pull up position when you are learning, or as you progress and attempting more.

In the beginning I could do about 5. Well, okay there were times I could only do 3 with the Pull Up Assist. But very quickly I was able to do 6 to 8 with the Pull Up Assist. And now I am able to do pull-ups without using it at all!!

Pull-up Challenge Accepted and Won!

The other thing I did was use the methods laid out in P90X3. This program is amazing!!! Especially if you want to be able to do a pull-up or build muscle mass. P90X3 is a great, great way to go! What I like most about it is that it utilizes the basic pull up from all different angles. You’re doing chin-ups, pull ups, wide grip, close grip and vaulted pull ups (one hand forward, and the other backward).  This works your muscles from all angles allowing you to progress so much quicker than traditional methods.  P90X3 doesn’t stop there. It also has a great system to help women with another dreaded exercise push-ups.

I’m always proud of myself when I’m able to accomplish something in my life. But conquering the pull-up really stands out, and now sits pretty high up in the things I’ve been able to achieve! I knew this is something that I had to share with you guys right away, because if I can do it I know you can too!!

If you guys have any questions I run a free online health and fitness coach group for anyone who is doing P90X3, or needs any help with their workout.  So please leave me a comment, shoot me a message or find me on Facebook. I would love to hear from you guys!!!
